Purpose

The purpose of the policy is to reiterate AEPL’s commitment to providing safe and healthy environment and experience for its employees, visitors, vendors, contractors, consultants etc.

AEPL is committed to protecting the health & safety of every person who plays a part in our operations, lives in the communities/areas surrounding our place of operations of uses our products. We shall conduct our business with respect and care for both the local and global environment and systematically  manage risks to drive sustainable business growth.

Objective

The objective of the policy is to clearly define the corporate provisions and requirements which are both necessary and suitable for practice oriented implementation of the principles of safety, health & environment protection in AEPL. It is aimed at

  • Meeting all the legal and social requirements regarding safety, health and environment.
  • designing, manufacturing and supply products that satisfy SHE guidelines and resources efficiency.
  • the management systems that are effective in maintaining standards and meeting the challenges of continuous improvements.

We believe and recognize that by integrating sound SHE management practices into all aspects of our business activities, we can offer a very conducive work environment and develop technologically innovative products and services and at the same time conserve valuable resources for the future generations. Policy

AEPL’s integrated SHE management system provides for continual improvement throughout our business, products & activities from extracts to formulation, production, testing services. Through SHE management system, we are committed to the following principles.

  • Provide leadership and commitment as an expression of the importance that the board and the senior management team places on EHS issues.
  •  Maintenance of a safe environment and safe workplaces.

  • Design, manage and operate our facilities to maximize safety, promote energy efficiency, and protect the environment.

  • Maintain a secure work environment to protect ourselves, our contractors and the Company’s assets from risks of injury, property loss or damage resulting from hostile acts.

  • Where laws and regulations do not provide adequate controls, we will adopt our own standards to protect human health and the environment.
  • Advocate the adoption of prudent environmental, health and safety principles and practices by our contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Recognizing outstanding EHS performance.

  • Ensure accountability by holding corporate management and senior executives within each operating division and business unit responsible for EHS performance.
  • Provide the financial and human resources to allow EHS issues to be given an appropriate level of priority.
  • Demonstrate visible and active leadership that engages employees and services providers and manage to develop  health, safety and environment (HSE) performance as a matter of routine.
  • Ongoing evaluation of compliance with HSE laws and requirements.
  • Provide good communication internally and externally and encourage employee involvement and cooperation at all levels in the organization in meeting EHS objectives.
  • Ensure competence on EHS matters through education, training and awareness at all levels in the organization, including creating an understanding of individual responsibilities for health, safety and the environment.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors understand that working safely is a condition of employment, and that they are each responsible for their own safety and the safety of those around them.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their role and responsibility to fulfill and sustain AEPL’s environmental, health and safety management systems and policy.
  • Reducing both human and financial costs of injuries through early intervention and rehabilitation support.

Roles and responsibilities

All employees, contractors and visitors are accountable for behaving in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times. Every employee, contractor, and visitor has a personal responsibility to comply with this policy and to notify their manager or guide if there is a compliance issue or question.

It is the responsibility of the AEPL’s top management to ensure that sufficient resources are available to implement this policy.

Managers are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that employees are provided adequate training, information and supervision to perform their jobs safely and have the appropriate equipment.
  • Complying with relevant HSE legislation.
  • Ensuring that any unsafe practice is eliminated.
  • The day-to-day management of environment issues that directly impact their area of responsibility.
  • Encouraging environmental awareness within their area of responsibility.

Employees, consultants and contractors are responsible for:

  • Performing their work in a safe manner.
  • Taking reasonable care so that their acts do not adversely affect the health and safety of themselves, others or the environment in  which they operate.
  • Reporting any incidents or hazards.
  • Undertaking their day to day work in compliance with this policy and relevant HSE legislation.
  • Ensuring that any visitors, that they are responsible for, are advised of the requirements of this policy.

If you become aware of any actual or possible non-compliance with this policy, you should immediately report it to your Manager.
Failure to comply with the obligations under this policy may lead to disciplinary action in accordance with the rules & regulation of the company.
